Dear Mānuka Whanau
Thank you for all the support you are giving your tamariki during this time.
We are making a few changes as we move towards our third week of Home Learning in Term 2 and want to share some of the thinking that went into our decision-making. You will have seen this information in our initial newslink and it can also be found on our school website.
As a school we have decided on the following guidelines for any home learning.
● Easy - encouraging
● Low pressure/stress
● Children may or may not get feedback
● Manageable amount
● Off-line options
Home learning will continue to be sent out each week on a Monday but we are changing the format to daily focus tasks. Please remember that this is optional and is not planned as a full day of activities. Instead of a daily story for next week we will share links to watch stories read by other teachers in the team. There are many websites that have extra fun things for the children to do if your child is looking for more. We will include some links in our home learning.
We are mindful that this time looks different in everyone’s household. The most important thing is keeping home life calm and safe. It is absolutely fine if your child prefers to do their own thing or spend time watching screens and NO home learning is done.
One of the options our children have access to is TV Home Learning. There is a great line-up of programmes for students to watch on TV and your child may prefer this as an option. Here is a link that takes you to the TV Home Learning site.
Later this week we are starting Zoom get togethers. The Senior Leadership team will be sorting a schedule and Mānuka Zoom times will be confirmed once this has come through. We are looking forward to seeing the children connect with each other and chat.
We really appreciate all the photos, videos and activities you have shared with us. ‘A picture speaks a thousand words.’ Your kids have been very busy!
Keep in touch with us Warmest regards Team Mānuka

Wednesday 25 March
Tuesday 24 March
You will have received emails from Conrad up-dating you on the processes during the temporary closure of KNS.
Yesterday we sent home readers, the phonics charts we use for writing and literacy books with your child. Please use these resources if it suits you to.
If your child was not at school yesterday you can come to school tomorrow to pick up these items.
From 9.00am until 10.30am there will be a table set up in the Rōpū Mānuka hallway with these items ready for you. Please line up 2 metres apart outside the entrance closest to Rooms 16 and 17. A team member will invite you into the building. There is no expectation that you must come in to collect these items if your child was not at school yesterday.
Online learning will come home as a PDF. This week’s learning will cover Wednesday the 25th of March through to Friday the 27th of March. After this, weekly planning will be emailed on Wednesday the 15th of April and Monday the 20th of April. We do not want to add to your workload or anxiety, all activities sent out by Team Mānuka are OPTIONAL and we hope enjoyable.
Please feel free to email us if you need to. We look forward to getting emails back, letting us know what you are up to at home.
